Discuss Medicine and Dentistry and demonstrate skills to primary and secondary school students.
Medicine and Dentistry students who are keen to expand their communication skills by demonstrating skills during workshops and conducting discussion with interested primary and secondary students. Bridge the Gap is a long term project which has been running at QMUL for a number of years. The same school students, who are considering Medicine or Dentistry in the future, are invited back each year to expand their knowledge of these competitive degree courses.
Workshops include: venipuncture, rubber dam placement, suturing and CPR.
More information about the long term project can be found on the Bridge the Gap webpage.
There is no minimum requirement for the number of hours any student can volunteer. The sessions are worthwhile and offer great experience to current students to explain and discuss their degree programme.
Must be studying Medicine or Dentistry at degree level at QMUL.
If you would like to express your interest in taking part in Bridge the Gap events please email Alasdair Robertson in the Widening Participation team at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Events are ongoing throughout the year on various dates. Where possible, events are planned for Wednesday afternoons or evenings. Expressions of interest in volunteering at events can be sent at any time.
